An Outbound expedition is not an outdoor camp and it's not a guided outdoor trip. Completing an Outbound leadership program rests on your ability to work effectively as a team member and as an individual. You will learn to communicate, to lead, and to be self-reliant within specialized group activities.
No, Leap Learning will provide safety lecture, equipment and professional guidance. However, participant must possess a higher degree of fitness, good strength and endurance especially for the adventure expedition programs.
Yes, OBT should become a part of the induction process, and there can be specific OBT modules designed for new joinees that will help them understand the organisation, co-workers/employees better. Why only induction process or when one joins the organisation? Even at a B-School level OBT helps students, those who are looking at a corporate career, to have a better understanding of team work, leadership, collaboration, risk management, lateral thinking, etc. in a more stimulated environment.
Many do not realise that there are different style/types of leadership - few tend to lead from the front, few from behind, few work along. OBT helps them choose their own style of leadership. It points out the traits and helps them build on from there. During any of the OBT activities there are clear set of people who take a lead and work around with people bridging the differences, it's important to identify such qualities and nurture them. OBT helps them to work in a more stimulated and an unfamiliar condition which helps them understand the role and responsibility of leading a team or being a leader.
The module is designed based on the objectives set for the OBT and it can be company/objective specific. So the trainer/facilitator has to spend time with the relevant HR or concerned manager to understand the set objectives and the areas of concern etc. OBT typically covers Outdoor, Adventure, Creativity based activities spread over 2 to 3 days, the activities could be about 8-12 based on the group size and time taken. OBT will also have interaction session and discussions.
Nothing specific we can think of, but if the company/HR is not very clear about the objectives then an OBT could just end up as a generic team outing/ bonding initiative.
Not hierarchy based, but any OBT should have specific objectives, what the company wants to achieve out of an OBT and the take-aways for the employees. OBT can be for all level employees where the objectives could be more generic, if the employee levels are separated then it can be specific, like for e.g. team members, team leaders, managers, senior management, etc. where the need/objective/intensity can be different/focused.
